Hourly rates and indicative fixed-fee ranges for immigration matters, so you know where you stand before we begin.

We aim to provide a clear and transparent service and will always give you an indication of costs in all immigration matters. Our fee is usually charged on the basis of time spent, at the hourly rates shown here.

The hourly rate depends on who deals with your matter. In some cases we can offer a fixed-fee quote once we have obtained all the facts. All figures are exclusive of VAT.

Hourly rates

  • Grade A: Solicitors and legal executives with over 8 years' experience£300
  • Grade B: Solicitors and legal executives with over 4 years' experience£230
  • Grade C: Other solicitors or legal executives and fee earners of equivalent experience£180
  • Grade D: Trainee solicitors, paralegals and other fee earners£126

Exclusive of VAT. The rate varies according to who is dealing with your matter.

Indicative fixed fees

Our fixed fee usually falls within these ranges and can sometimes be lower. Matters needing urgent attention may be charged slightly higher. All figures are exclusive of VAT.

Business & sponsorship

Start-up, innovator, investor, sponsor and skilled worker routes.

  • Start-up visa£7,000 – £8,000
  • Innovator visa£7,000 – £8,000
  • Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) and (Investor): initial application, extension or indefinite leave£7,500 – £10,000
  • Sponsor licence£3,000 – £5,000
  • Skilled Worker visa: initial application, extension or indefinite leave to remain£1,500 – £2,500
  • Tier 2: initial application, extension or indefinite leave to remain£1,500 – £2,500

Study

Student, parent and dependant applications.

  • Tier 4£750 – £1,500
  • Tier 4 Parent£2,500 – £3,000
  • PBS Dependant's visa£750 – £1,000

Family & settlement

Partners, relatives, ancestry and long-term residence.

  • Family-based application under Appendix FM: initial application, extension or indefinite leave to remain£1,500 – £3,000
  • Spouse and partner applications, including fiancé(e)s or proposed civil partners£1,000 – £3,000
  • Dependent relative and family reunion applications£1,000 – £3,000

EEA applications

Residence cards and permanent residence for EEA nationals and family.

Disbursements are costs payable to third parties. We handle the payment of disbursements on your behalf to keep the process smooth.

per day

Estimated counsel's fee for attending a Tribunal or Court hearing, including preparation, depending on the advocate's experience.

The small print

  1. The fixed-fee ranges relate solely to the fees of Britannia Solicitors and do not include disbursements.
  2. Disbursements other than court fees and Home Office fees usually attract VAT at 20%.
  3. If you can provide sufficient evidence at our first meeting and clearly meet the Immigration Rules, the cost is likely to be at the lower end of the range.
  4. The time needed depends on your case: the volume of supporting evidence, the language(s) you speak, whether you apply with dependants, and complexities such as past refusals, criminal convictions or adverse immigration history.
  5. There may be additional charges for cases considered under the premium or VIP service offered by the Home Office.
  6. Interpreter costs vary; you may be able to bring a friend or community figure to help, otherwise we can help you find a suitable interpreter.
